Stop for the Love of God

This is an annual Quiet Day that is kept around the country to encourage people to stop and spend time quietly with God.

I am organising a Quiet Day here in Church on Saturday 20th June starting at 10:00am and finishing at about 4:00pm.

If you would like to attend or to know more then please speak to Sue Calveley.

Tea & coffee will be available throughout the day but you should bring a packed lunch.

Pentecost Praise Party!

Sunday 31st May is Pentecost Sunday.

There is a change to our usual services that day; we will have a 9:00am communion and then at 10:45am a Pentecost Praise Party Cafe Style Service.

We ask you to donate croissants, muffins, crumpets, teacakes etc, it should be a really good time and an ideal service to bring new people along to.

Please pray about it and for the leaflets which will be given out to Bury Road School, Footprints and Playgroup, that people will respond.

Rev. Ian Mainey will be licensed as Priest in Charge of St.Peter's and St.Jame's by the Bishop of Warrington on Monday 1st June @ 7:30pm at St.Jame's Church.

Please pray for Ian and his family as they prepare to leave Deane in Bolton and to move to a new ministry in Birkdale.

St.Peter's Spring Fayre!

You are invited to our first ever Spring Fayre.

It will be held at the parish centre on saturday 21st march 10:30 - 4pm.

There will be a variety of stalls including crafts, plants, books and an amazing win every time tombola!

Delicious food will be served throughout the day.

Come and see our beautiful church where there will be an opportunity to chat and pray.

50p entrance fee for over 16's.

All money made will be divided between our church repair fund and one of our charities.

We look forward to seeing you.

Cell Group Questions 07/12/08

How can we encourage those that have received Christian baptism to be more confident that they are God's beloved and forgiven children, gifted by His Spirit? Acts 2:38, Galatians 3:26 - 4:7
In Acts 4:31, we read of people who had already been filled with the spirit (Acts 2:4) being filled again. Can we think of more than one occasion in our own lives when we have experienced the presence and power of God in a special way? Should we expect more such occasions?
In Romans 8:9-11 having the Spirit and having Jesus are inseparable. Do you find thinking of the Spirit in terms of presence (Psalm 139:7) and power (Luke 1:35) helpful? Are there other ways you find thinking of the Spirit helpful - eg. spectacles, music, elastic band.

An opportunity to explore vocation and what it means to be called to ordination. Bishop James will be speaking at each event, which will also include worship, information from Vocations Advisors and workshops introducing different types of ordained ministry and a workshop especially for young people considering ordination in their future. A light meal will be provided.

Harvest Thanksgiving - Sunday 28th September

The service will be a cafe style service and will start at 10:45am.

We would be grateful for Harvest Gifts of non-perishable items, which will be donated to our local homeless charities.

Also donations of money will be forwarded to Samaritans Purse.
